The patients with the following symptoms should report to Emergency Department of ILBS.

·          Jaundice with blunting of mentation

·          acute pain in abdomen

·          Jaundice with spontaneous bleeding from gums/ any site

·          Jaundice decreased / loss of urination

·          Jaundice with reduction of blood pressure 

In addition, the patients who have liver disease can report to Emergency Department if they develop either of the following symptoms

·     Decrease or loss of urination

·     Development of breathlessness

·     Blunting of mentation

·     Blood in vomitus/ stool

Patients with trauma to liver and biliary system should also be referred to the Emergency Department at ILBS for specialized care. 

The critical care services at ILBS cater to patients undergoing major surgical procedures including liver transplants. The critical care services are well equipped to provide comprehensive care for patients with hepato-pancreatico-biliary diseases with co-existing serious conditions of heart, lung, kidney, neurological systems.

Critical Care Services at ILBS are equipped with all world class modern facilities. These facilities include a state of art Emergency Department capable of providing care for any acute condition arising out of underlying hepato-pancreatico-biliary diseases.  The Critical Care Services at ILBS have 74 Level III beds spread over five state of art ICUs with in-house liver and renal dialysis facilities. The Five units include GI Bleed ICU, Hepatic Coma ICU, Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Medical ICU, Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Surgical ICU & Transplant ICU.

The services at ILBS are dedicated to provide care for those patients who are critically ill and in need of urgent advanced monitoring and intensive treatments. These tasks are carried out by a team of highly trained and dedicated professionals with precision, synchronization and coordination with unwavering commitment and teamwork. In addition, the dedicated and experienced nursing staff is focused to meet the psychological, physical and emotional needs of the patient.

The critical care services is committed towards fufilling the mission of ILBS  in becoming  a dedicated centre of excellence, promoting patient care, training and research in the field on Hepato-pancreatico-biliary diseases.
