Anaesthesia

The Department of Anaesthesia at ILBS provides perioperative care to all patients scheduled for routine and emergency hepato-biliary and pancreatic surgeries; services that are at par with the best in the country or anywhere in the world. The anaesthesia services at ILBS also cater to patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and/or therapeutic endospcopic and radiological interventions. In addition, a 24-hour dedicated acute pain service takes care that the patients have a smooth pain free post-operative recovery. The facility of anaesthesia is incorporated into the six state-of-the-art operating rooms spread over two floors with their dedicated pre-operative, post-operative care areas, and satellite intensive care units (ICUs). There is a dedicated anaesthesia service for the liver transplant unit that provides comprehensive and specialized care to the patients undergoing liver transplantation. Anaesthesia services are also availble at day-care unit which takes care of patients undergoing endoscopic, radiological, and minor surgical procedures. A work environment of mutual trust, respect, understanding and appreciation between surgeons, physicians and anaesthetists is the backbone of the department leading to improved care, better outcome, and greater patient satisfaction.
