Hepatology

The department of Hepatology is a dedicated department for patients of hepatobiliary diseases and has Transplant Hepatology and Pediatric Hepatology as independent units. The department has initiated efforts to promote study of hepatobiliary sciences as a supersepciality and initiated advanced training for gastroenterologist, physicians, nurses, and paramedics in the field of Hepatology, Transplant Hepatology, and Pediatric Hepatology. The department is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipments and facilities including a high tech vascular hemodynamic laboratory.

  • GI bleed unit
  • Hepatic coma unit
  • Advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy suites including capsule endoscopy, double and single balloon enteroscopy, argon plasma coagulation (APC), heater probe, etc.
  • Vascular hemodynamic and intervention lab (portal pressure measurements [HVPG], trans-jugular liver biopsy [TJLB], TIPS, BRTO, chemoembolisation for HCC, etc.)
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP)
  • Endoscopic shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL)
  • Radiofrequency Ablation
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound
  • Endoscopic bariatric treatment for obesity
  • Liver-specific nutrition services

The hepatobiliary services are organized in a manner to provide emergency transport by fully equipped dedicated ambulance services for acute emergencies like acute gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding and hepatic coma in the quickest possible time.
