Over the last decade Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery has advanced into a subspecialty with surgeons trained specifically in advanced techniques of liver, pancreas and bile duct surgery. At ILBS, the Department of HPB Surgery has developed an organ system specific approach to hepato-biliary diseases that encompasses all of the surgical techniques that are available for the management of hepatobiliary disease. The department includes surgeons who have the unique ability to perform the full array of laprascopic and open surgical techniques for both malignant and non-malignant diseases of the liver, bile duct, and pancreas.
The research interests of the division are directed towards carcinoma gall bladder, choledochal cyst, portal hypertension, and primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma).
